Minimum Requirements: Stripe Hiring

• Solid computer science background, supported by a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Some experience with programming must be preferably from academic projects or personal projects of some sort. The main languages we use are Java, Ruby, JavaScript (ES6-ES2015), Scala, and Go; however strong prior knowledge that will allow you to quickly pick up new languages even if they are not on this list is valued as well.
• Previous experience as an intern or in team efforts such as open source contributions exemplifies having been able to participate in the process of critiques and instruction by others, peers or mentors.
• Able to learn new systems autonomously and independently acquire an intimate knowledge of them, through self-study and collaboration with mentors and experts.

Preferred Qualifications: Stripe Hiring

• Evident written communication skills, the ability to explain your work to anyone who needs to know about it, be it a shareholder or teammate, an outsourcing firm partner, fellow engineer, or someone beyond that for sure!
• A college education or some other form of professional experience at least two years long.
• Expert knowledge in several areas, together with a comprehensive understanding of general technical skills such as front-end techniques and an entrepreneurial guess on how a service would handle an HTTP request.
• Experience in contributing high-quality pull requests with good test coverage and finishing large projects with few defects.
• Able to navigate and facilitate work within unfamiliar code bases, and comfortable using multiple programming languages.
